EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Zambia University-College of Technology (ZUT) is a Government owned higher
learning institution established by Statutory Instrument No. 39 of 2022. The institution
has continued to record growth in various areas of operation. The University-College is
based in Ndola, and offers locally and internationally accredited professional and
academic programmes, and a range of other products and services, such as skills
training, consultancy and software development. In order to build on the current
successes and achieve even greater heights, the University-College seeks to recruit
dedicated and innovative professionals who are passionate about making a significant
and positive contribution to the education sector in Zambia. If you are such an individual
possessing necessary qualifications and competencies, you are encouraged to apply for
one of the following positions:
1. LECTURER – ELECTRICAL ELECTRONICS in the School of Engineering –
Part-Time Contract (1 Position) – Preferably Ndola Based.
Job Purpose: Responsible for teaching and research; and for the development and
review of curricula, supervision and marking of assessments and examinations;
project supervision, student guidance, consultancy and community services; and
administrative duties that may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Full Grade 12 Certificate with at least 5 ‘O’ levels including English and
Mathematics
2. Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical/Electronics - Power
3. Master of Engineering in Electrical/Electronics - Power
4. An earned PhD will be an added advantage
5. Evidence of peer reviewed publications will be an added advantage
6. At least two (2) years’ lecturing experience in Electrical Engineering Related
courses
Key Responsibilities for Lecturing positions:
1. Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
2. Developing curricula and course material that can be used across a range of
platforms.
3. Engaging industry, and collaborating with other academics and lecturers to
improve teaching methods and expand knowledge base, leading to
thoroughly equipped graduates.
4. Setting and grading assignments, tests, examinations, and research projects.

5. Conducting research, and writing papers, proposals, journal articles, and
books.
6. Participating in the institution’s, innovation, consultancy, and business
development strategies
7. Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events in and
outside of the institution.
8. Mentoring and providing support to students and other colleagues.
9. Staying current by reading widely and producing published work in the field.
10. Carry out administrative tasks related to the department, such as student
admissions, induction programmes and involvement in committees and
boards

Special aptitudes, disposition and personal qualities of ideal candidate for
Lecturing positions:
1. Demonstrable expertise in area of specialization
2. Good organisational, communications, interpersonal, networking, analytical and
general administrative skills
3. Good emotional intelligence and ability to work under pressure with minimum
supervision
4. Capability to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve both your
own teaching/research goals and the aims of your Faculty
5. Ability to appropriately utilise ICT applications to support a blended learning
approach to education
6. Ability to design, produce and use a range of assessment instruments that are
current, reliable, practicable and accessible.
2. LABORATORY TECHNICIAN – ELECTRICAL/ ELECTRONICS - POWER in the
School of Engineering – ZUT 7 Salary Grade, Part-Time (1 Position) –
PREFERABLY NDOLA BASED.
Job Purpose: Provide technical support during and after laboratory sessions;
maintenance and storage of laboratory equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, prepare and set up laboratory and e-Classroom equipment in
consultation with lecturers and/or faculty coordinators;
2. Provide on-site technical support to the lecturers, students and other users
during laboratory sessions and/or meetings/workshops/seminars in e-
Classrooms;
3. Carry out preventive maintenance works on all laboratory and e-Classrooms
equipment;
4. Participate in the induction of new students and staff regarding use of ICT
services to the University College;
5. Work closely with IT Support staff in the maintenance of network
infrastructure based at the ICE;
6. Implementation of various ICT related projects; and
7. Perform all other duties as maybe required by superiors from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience required for this Role
1. Full Grade 12 Certificate with at least 5 “O” Levels including English &
Mathematics;
2. Bachelor of Engineering from a recognized higher learning institution at level 7 of
the Zambia Qualifications Authority framework.
3. At least two (2) years working experience in a similar capacity.
Competences required for this Role
1. Demonstrable expertise in area of specialization

3. Good emotional intelligence and ability to work under pressure with minimum
supervision
