BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING IN INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION AND CONTROL SYSTEMS

Published on , 25 Aug, 2026

The Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Automation and Control Systems is
a professionally oriented engineering programme designed to equip graduates
with the knowledge, technical skills, and competencies needed to design,
implement, operate, maintain, and optimise automated industrial systems.
The programme responds to the growing adoption of automation,
digitalisation, robotics, intelligent control, and data-driven technologies across
modern industries.

As industries seek to improve productivity, product quality,
operational efficiency, safety, and competitiveness, there is growing demand
for engineers who can integrate electrical, electronic, mechanical, computer,
instrumentation, and control technologies into effective industrial solutions.
Industrial automation and control systems are a critical component of modern
manufacturing and process industries. Technologies such as programmable
logic controllers (PLCs), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA),
distributed control systems (DCS), industrial robotics, sensors and actuators,
industrial communication networks, human-machine interfaces (HMIs),
machine vision, and the industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) are increasingly
deployed to automate production and monitoring processes. Consequently,
engineering graduates require both a strong theoretical foundation and
practical competence in applying these technologies to real-world industrial
challenges.

The programme integrates fundamental engineering sciences with specialised
knowledge in automation, instrumentation, control engineering, electrical and
electronic systems, computer programming, robotics, industrial networking,
embedded systems, artificial intelligence, and industrial data analytics. It is
designed to develop graduates who can analyse complex engineering
problems, design and develop automated systems, troubleshoot industrial
processes, and implement safe, reliable, efficient, and sustainable control
solutions.

The programme places particular emphasis on practical learning, laboratory
experimentation, industrial exposure, engineering design, innovation,
problem-solving, and project-based learning. Through these approaches,
students are expected to develop the ability to translate engineering theory
into practical solutions and to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams. The
programme also promotes professional ethics, occupational health and safety,
environmental responsibility, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning.

The Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Automation and Control Systems is
therefore intended to develop a technically competent engineering workforce
capable of supporting industrial transformation and technological innovation.
Graduates will be equipped to pursue careers in manufacturing, mining,
energy, utilities, oil and gas, food processing, telecommunications, building
automation, water and wastewater management, and other sectors that apply
automated and intelligent control systems. The programme also provides a
foundation for postgraduate study, research, innovation, and professional
development in automation, control engineering, robotics, and related fields.
